Arctic Territory

The Unknown Arctic (Russia)

Like Canada and its stake on the Northwest Passage, Russia considers the Northeast Passage’s waters as interior, therefore theirs. Russia has also more means to assert its claim. It is the only country in the world to have a fleet of non-military nuclear submarines.

Its ice-breakers exceed all that Canada or the United States hold in regard to ice-strengthened ships. There is no doubt that Russia’s presence in the Arctic is meant to be powerful and prepared to conquer.
